WRBL Week 12, 2022

 Wisconsin Rapids Bro League

Our eighth official season of blaming Cole Walters for my typo on Week 11(!!!)'s title.

Bro...

Time for some general housekeeping as we open up December... The current plan is to have Week 13's Review up sometime in the next week and Week 14 will be a quick wrap-up of the regular season with the 1-4 and 2-3 matchups unveiled for the postseason. Week 15 is our first round/semifinal, which will be followed by a Review/Championship Preview sometime between the 19th and Christmas. This is where things get a bit hectic as I'll be in the midst of List Season, highlighting the music and other things to reflect on from the year 2022. With the final two regular season weekends meaning zilch to our fantasy football league, I'll be sure to get the Championship results and final numbers counted for League Historian purposes sometime prior to the kicking off of the NFL's postseason. It may seem like it's a ways away but, we're Sonic the Hedgehog-ing our way to the finish line with the playoff picture shaping out in real time with Hoefs and Stoltz already eliminated from post-Week 14 contention. It's been a cruel road for both of them and with all that extra time to not worry about their lineups, maybe one of those two can finish the championship WRBL recap instead. No? You sure? Bueller? Bueller?

Two-thirds of the way through the NFL season and it has become increasingly apparent that this will not be the Rams, Packers or Cardinals' years. A ton of attention has already been paid on Denver and the Russell Wilson bathrooms vs. touchdowns race but in a sense, their disappointment is more understandable as the relationship between the two most important leaders (a team's quarterback and head coach) is completely new. With LA, Green Bay and Arizona? Well, all three teams made the playoffs in 2021 and had varying levels of success with Aaron Rodgers winning another MVP for the 13-4 Pack, Kyler, Kliff and the Kardinaldashians going the furthest distance without a loss at 9-0 last year and the most important drop-off of them all, the Rams going from champagne to a roster full of shams and pain. These franchises are now in dire straits with the two non-victors looking at potential coaching changes after possibly mistakenly extending their great quarterbacks while the Rams' horrendous injury luck has them likely resting All-Pros like QB Matthew Stafford, WR Cooper Kupp, DT Aaron Donald and even the locker being saved for free agent WR Odell Beckham Jr. is no longer vacant as the front office seems to be throwing the white flag without a 2023 first-round pick. Now, the team has a very nerve-wracking offseason ahead that could have them lose elite play-calling head coach Sean McVay to a ridiculous television contract. If GM Les Snead were still in "ALL IN" mode, I'd like to imagine he has Sean Payton on speed dial just in case.

The Associated Press
WR Allen Robinson (foot, out for season) is just the latest disappointing injury for the 2022 Rams.

With the Rams on the mend, the Chiefs practically sleepwalked their way through a 26-10 win over LA as QB Patrick Mahomes game-managed his way into 18.4 fantasy points, only 0.4 more than the lowest-scoring starting WRBL QB in week 11 (Joe Burrow). Mahomes' collected confidence didn't help Sparky as his Here Dad Weights' squad dropped their first loss since October. Jaime is now one game and 4.24 points behind the Colieveland 96ers. Theirs is a rivalry sure to reemerge come playoff time barring any hot spells from Brett or Nick. Speaking of those two and no longer sharing the same win-loss record, Brett was the surprise winner over Sparky by just 6.02 thanks to a record-setting Sunday Night rushing performance by surprisingly touchdown-challenged QB Jalen Hurts. Scott's Many Endeavors (led by Nick Zurawski) weren't as lucky, losing by 7.28 to last place Hoefs. Once again, any hopes of postseason rallying by Z have been disrupted by an even lesser quality team just barely not sucking (Nathaniel was this week's lone hypothetical loser to come out on top in reality). At least Nick isn't blaming his losses on Chris Paul or the Jewish religion as a whole.

Oh, and Alec has clinched a postseason spot with a win over Gabe, who I am constantly forgetting even goes here. Maybe with WR Courtland Sutton's status in doubt, he can finally start a WR not named Tyreek Hill with a ceiling higher than "Allen Robinson LITE". If he does, it could doom the season for Scott's Many Endeavors. Not only was Scott Aschebrook too busy to draft but, he seems to have been too busy to pass his good juju onto his family name via Nick's team. SAD!
