Bro...

Before I forget, Merry Christmas to all and to all a good fantasy weekend. An early holiday present that I needed and Father Todd so thoughtfully picked up for me was the very Chromebook from which I am typing this on so if the blog itself looks a little different, it's my fault because each individual computer/laptop has their own weird quirks that take some time adjusting to and I'm just trying real hard not to spike this thing into the ground or give up and return it too quickly. It's hard to believe this absolute mudpie, slog of a season is finally coming to it's conclusion but alas, it's Shelby Bowl time and despite a few extra COVID-shaped bumps in the road, the 2021 season is going out with a very reasonable and logically-sound Nick vs. Darrin finale. Despite getting passed up those last few weeks of the regular season by Cole, Darrin WAS 3-0 (same as Nick) early on and has hung on to a very commanding second-place lead in the Steven Nett Division all year long. Again, the Tanner Glaza Division put forth a valiant effort in their comeback to respectability but, the postseason results speak for themselves and there were no 96-point comebacks in store for 2021. I'm not sure what the future of divisions in this league is but, I guess I'm against them going forward for blog purposes. What can I say? I'm allowed to be selfish sometimes.

Congratulations are in order for Nick Zurawski's Scott's Many Endeavors on clinching first place in the Hypothetical Standings if nothing else. What a joyous surprise it must be for the league commissioner that dominated all throughout his 12-2 regular season to end up on top of the hypothetical standings, not a single blemish impeding his bragging rights for 2021. That's okay because the tyrannical leader's reign of terror will be over soon enough. After much deliberation behind the scenes, a newer, stronger, XFL-ier competitor league is brewing and between the forces of former-Bro Scott, current-Bro Darrin and yours truly, we are creating the SAD! (Scott-Andy-Darrin). Rules for the SAD!? No keepers! No divisions! Around week 8, we RE-DRAFT! Like your silly little snake drafts? Shut up and take my money! We only do auction drafts in this bitch. We don't even test for COVID, we just microdose J&J shots weekly before league meetings, we're THAT hardcore. The SAD! league will be coming your way this fall (unless it doesn't) and Nick cannot hide from the clearly superior, not-at-all rigged competitor that will now be the main topic of focus for this blog.

Pictured here: Nick eventually winning Andy and the blog back via $$$

Week 14 was a doozy with more players on the COVID-reserve list than any previous week in the two years that this virus has made it's existence known. I'm going to put myself out there and say that I'm anti-COVID so for all of you out there that say I play the fence too much, Boom! (John Madden voice) I have taken a firm anti-COVID stance. Anywho, Nick needs something of a miracle or for a backup to step up in a major way with QB Taysom Hill and WR Tyreek Hill (bad week for T. Hills!) contracting COVID while MVP-candidate Lamar Jackson returns/recovers from his bad ankle that cost him the exciting Raven-Packer game. It's not like Darrin's lineup is looking spick and span either (do people even say that in 2021?) with Ryan's dad needing to add RB Ronald Jones after his Buccaneer teammate Leonard Fournette went down for the rest of the regular season with an injury, WR Adam Thielen's status remains up in the air over an ankle AND Darrin's ride-or-die kicker Harrison Butker just got dropped by the Chowhounds due to his unvaccinated, automatic inactive for Shelby Bowl weekend. This is all a long and overly complicated way of prefacing the fact that I will not be exactly previewing each championship lineup since we have no clue who's even going to be involved from a personnel standpoint! According to ESPN's Field Yates' tweet Thursday morning: "
Fantasy stars that are or might be unavailable in Week 16 include Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, Dalvin Cook, Austin Ekeler, Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, Lamar Jackson, Deandre Hopkins, Brandin Cooks, Darren Waller and D'Andre Swift." This would never happen in the SAD!

As for our other final week's worth of matchups, the Sacko Bowl is receiving far less fanfare now that it's between the sixth and fifth best regular season squads as both Hoefs and I weasled our ways out of any potential punishments for ineptitude. Instead, we get to watch Sneen (again?) and Ryan throw haymakers at each other in a battle for the ages. Nick is trying to hype up the third-place game between dueling taxpayers Alec and Cole but if your main source of excitement for a fantasy matchup involves any mention of excessive paperwork, I'm just not that into it. Lastly, in the game that matters the least, I'm trotting out a truly bizarre group of randos like Drew Lock and potentially Noah Gray as I try to finish as the best of the worst around, nothing's ever gonna keep me (momentarily) down. In a season of downs, how could anything happening this weekend make me feel anything towards Todd's Plan? That's not a challenge by the way, there's no need for the injury gods to strike down my last-minute All-Bro bid by WR Keenan Allen.

Good luck to all! Happy Honda Days! Stay Safe at Toyotathon! and whether or not Nick completes his final fantasy this weekend with a win, never forget...

Scott is making a list,
he's checking it twice,
he's gonna find a way to draft Jerry Rice,
the SAD! league is taking you down.
